In this 3-hour workshop we are going to start with a brief introduction to Danzón (the dance that preceded Son) and after that we will explore 15 different Son figures which will include desplazamientos, the famous tornillos, hesitations, and creative footwork. To complement your learning, during the evening at the Cubanization dance party, we will play several Son tracks. As you go back and forth between Casino and Son, you will realize that Casino, being danced to the melody, allows the execution of a wider range of figures and turns, which is why it was created. Son, on the other hand, will enable you to connect a bit deeper with the core of our rhythms (the percussive instruments), while still enjoying smooth-flowing figures.

Requirement: partner required. Please, note that tickets will be sold in pairs (the $90 price includes 2 people) so make sure you indicate who your partner will be. This policy is put in place to avoid having an imbalanced class.
