Vogue Villains//

In the summer of 2017, Canadian rock band Vogue Villains was formed in the small city of Campbell River, BC. Set on making music that felt unique yet was not afraid to wear its influences on its sleeves the band created a sound that is unmistakably and undeniably VV.

Taking an alt-rock stance, the Villains are also planted firmly in catchy melodies and multipart harmonies. Their live sound is big, dirty and full of raw energy, while also having a humorous stage presence that goes hand in hand with their tongue in cheek original music and lyrical sensibilities.

Vogue Villains is made up of four members: Andrew Baskin (Lead Vox, Bass), Lucas Antoni (Lead Vox, Guitar), Nate Cox (Drums, Vox) and Robert Johnston (Keyboard, Guitar, Vox).

Free speakers//

The Free Speakers are an alternative rock band hailing from Vancouver Island. Their music draws influence from classic bands like the Police and the Cars, with a healthy dose of heavier more guitar based style of the Raconteurs and Foo Fighters. Formed in 2019 by founding members Blair Deptuck (lead vocals/guitar) and Brent Redberger (backing vocals/bass), the duo made the decision to get into the studio to record original songs that they had accumulated during their stints in various bands. Looking for others to collaborate with to bring their vision to life, they recruited good friends and seasoned musicians, Jon Roper (guitar) and Joel Fountain (drums) from Vancouver, BC.

Together with the skilled producer/engineer Rick Salt, The Free Speakers have crafted a sound with their own brand of honest rock while keeping a strong foothold in the modern day. Their efforts culminated in the 2020 debut EP, “Signs“, a five-track kicker with a fresh and live sound. The album features punchy guitar driven rock with clean vocals and a smoking rhythm section.

The group is gearing up to play local gigs as venues reopen this fall. More songs are in the works and there are plans to release a full length album in 2022.

Zen Junkie//

Lucas Mercer
Born in Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1983, Lucas has been playing guitar since he was 9.

At first it was an afterthought, but upon realizing he could play with others around the age of 12 he began to take it a little more seriously. This began a long pattern of musical involvement.

He joined his first band in high school at the age of 14, performing all original music from a young age. As a teenager his band won multiple awards and recorded a 6 song EP that was listened to by people at his school. After high school he studied at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta for performance theater arts where he received extensive vocal training.

Since then he has travelled to Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver chasing band projects and building a repertoire of music that stretches across several decades. He has made many overwhelming sacrifices in the pursuit of his creations and that has lead him here to this path today.

Lucas has produced, composed, performed, recorded and mixed 8 different albums, some with collaborators, the majority all by his lonesome (links provided on this website). Despite this, his dream has always been to find a few players who enjoy his work and want to make his vision come true.

After many long years of looking he’s found these awesome fellas, has spent a wonderful few years getting to know them personally and musically, and feels ready to take on the whole world.

There is a wealth of material at his fingertips, a great deal backlogged awaiting completion, and no end in sight to the compositions that are constantly asking to be captured and expressed. Lucas is a lifer.

He will be making this music until it kills him. He believes in the power of music, the power of the artist, the value of a commitment of the soul.

If there is any chance what he is creating will make a difference, he will take it.

Come along for the journey! It will last a lifetime.
