Sonic Break//

Sonic Break is an original, alt-rock act based in Vancouver and formed in 2015. After years of songwriting, brothers Rory and Jamie Mackay joined forces with drummer Ryan Grohn and bassist Ash Shenoy to create their diverse sound: a melting pot of rock, grunge, and pop influences. The band is complimented by the rich harmony vocals of singer-songwriter and collaborator Anika MacKay. Sonic Break offers a rocking live performance with searing leads, body-moving beats, catchy melodies and memorable lyrics.

They are grateful to have signed with Live Acts Canada and are honoured to be the Spotlight Artist of the Month for August, just in time for the release of their first single. They have recently been in the recording studio with acclaimed canadian producer Darren Grahn (who has worked with Metallica and Motley Crue) which has resulted in songs that they are truly proud to release to the world !. They perform live gigs regularly in the Vancouver music scene.

Bella Cat//

Bella Cat is an incredible performer who leaves you shaking in your seats with tears, goosebumps, and fulfillment. There is no competition when it comes to the original music Bella sings and writes, she is truly a one-of-a-kind performer. Setting the scene all the way back into the 1920s with her raspy soulful voice her new take on soul music will blow you away! Adding notes of RnB, hip-hop, blues, funk, and even folk music the artist has been described as a versatile soul singer. Bella's high energy performances are like a futuristic soul show, her voice has been compared to Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, and Etta James by multiple media sources like CBC, Les 7 Jours, Rogers, Ottawa Magazine, Pap Jazz, Metro News, The Low Down and more. You can expect Bella’s live shows to include a full band, DJ, costumes, special guest singers, drag artists, and dancers depending on the event.

Bella grew up in a small town in Chelsea Quebec but spent most of her professional career so far in the capital of Canada. Ottawa is where her career started but not where it ended, she now resides in Nelson British Columbia and after 7 cross-Canada tours, Bella is now known Canada-wide. She released two full albums, one out of Nashville in 2014 and the other out of Chicago in 2019. She is now focusing on releasing a new EP called “Fries and Gravy” due to be released on April 29th. After her appearance on Canada’s version of "The Voice" based out of Montreal “La Voix” her fan base grew even bigger. After being on TV she was inspired to start hosting her own live show titled, “Ottawa Performance Competition”, which then turned into a production company called Bella Cat Soul Productions. At first this was a non-profit organization to help amateur artists of all kind grow, find their voice and, place on the stage but it grew into something so much bigger. Now she isn't just a recording artist but a composer, producer, director, photographer, and creator. If there is one thing we know about Bella it’s that she is not one genre, she is not one thing, she has no label. The Cat enjoys her work so much that she currently has multiple collaborations on the go with artists from around the world. Bella Cat is sure to be a contender in the international music scene, don’t miss her show if you get the chance to see her live!

Reid Zakos//

Born in Calgary into a musical family, Reid was surrounded by Jazz music as his father Adrian played piano in a few Jazz ensembles. Possessing an undeniable charismatic stage presence from an early age, Reid soon immersed himself in theatre and dance. Influenced by trendsetting pop artists such as Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, and Troye Sivan, Reid is also a true original and loves to incorporate fashion, bold visuals, self-acceptance, and escapism into his artistry.

As a proud queer artist, Reid was often misunderstood and bullied growing up but overcame it through self expression and creativity. He began writing his own songs at the age of 11. He studied acting and theatre at Mount Royal University, landing the lead role in The Rocky Horror Show in first year. He back-up danced and choreographed for many local drag queens, also dancing with The Snap Boys YYC, and training in the Jazz Extension training program at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. However, Reid’s main goal had always been to pursue a career in pop music. His electronic dance-pop music was first discovered by QueerFM Radio Vancouver’s DJ Denise in 2015.

After playing a few live shows and fundraisers in Alberta with his father Adrian in a jazz-pop piano and vocal duo called REIDWORLD, he moved to Vancouver in 2018 to study songwriting, music business, and artist development at the Nimbus School of Recording & Media.

After releasing his first official singles “Neon” and “Respect Me” in 2018 he performed live at various music venues in Vancouver including Studio Nightclub, The Belmont, Railway, Hats Off Day Festival in Burnaby, and at Vancouver Pride 2019.

He moved back to Calgary in late 2019 and began work on his debut album “Legends & Myths” which was released April 3rd 2020. The album is a Greek-mythology and retro-pop inspired album full of dance grooves and theatrical vocals, as well as lyrical themes of self-empowerment, manifestation, and relationships. The album also features collaborations with Dante Hart, and Reid’s partner Jayden Mckenzie.

In celebration of World Pride Month 2020, Reid released a new dance single “A World Of Yes”, becoming his most streamed single to date, donating a portion of the proceeds to the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition in support of Black Lives Matter and Black Trans Youth. Reid then began work on his second album in collaboration with RedPanda Productions releasing the lead singles “Deck of Cards” and “Falling”.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began Reid has also taken part in many virtual shows working with companies like youbloom and Live Acts Canada streaming live virtual music shows with upcoming independent artists.
