Tuesday, December 5, 2023 | 8:00pm
Annex
823 Seymour Street, Vancouver, BC, V6B 3L4

Enjoy seasonal music performed by internationally renowned pianist Anna Sagalova, guitarist Denys Panchenko, and the Kolo Ukrainian Choir in Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music, a fundraiser for the Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group's Rehabilitation Program for the Children of Fallen Heroes.

This musical kick-off to the holiday season also features Ukrainian handicrafts for sale and carolling, all in the festive setting of a beautiful decorated Orpheum Annex Theatre.

The program for the evening includes an array of traditional Ukrainian Christmas carols. The concert derives its name from "Shchedryk," the stirring 1916 New Year's song by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych about a little swallow; "Shchedryk" would eventually be adapted into one of the world's most recognized Christmas songs, "Carol of the Bells." The concert will be emceed by composer, vocalist, and musical director Anna Pidgorna.

Attendees to Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped gift for Ukrainian kids to place under our tree.

Tickets are $100 each and include a complimentary festive beverage and a lovingly curated gift bag. A limited number of VIP tickets (which include reserved cabaret seating at the front of the house, a festive beverage, and a special gift bag containing high-value treasures from Ukraine) are available for $250 each.

Proceeds from Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music ticket sales will benefit the Ukrainian Canadian Advocacy Group's Rehabilitation Program for the Children of Fallen Heroes. The program brings grieving children to a peaceful retreat in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains for two weeks of trauma therapy, art therapy, and extracurricular experiences. The program is free to the children who participate, and brings together experts from around the world. To date, more than 150 children have been helped by the program.

Carol of the Bells: A Ukrainian Christmas in Music takes place at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 5 at the Annex (823 Seymour Street). Doors open at 7:00 PM.
