 “I don’t want to be just another sad folk singer-songwriter with a cabin in the woods. I hope to break the cliche of what a indie folk  singer-songwriter can be.” 

Riun Garner is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Vancouver, British Columbia. Known professionally as an actor and an award winning director, Riun had been writing and recording quiet and personal songs as voice memos on his phone for years not knowing what would come of them. But with the help of some his close friends, Riun recorded four of those songs live onto an analog reel to reel tape machine that had been found abandoned in a apartment hallway. This stripped down set up inspired by the likes of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and early Bon Iver, created an intimate space to capture something fragile and heart breaking which spoke to the record at it’s core. A record of pain and hope, of loss and isolation, and the insecurities of being forgotten.

Since the release of his debut EP ‘All We Know and All We Forget’, Riun Garner has been attracting lots of attention within the music industry including Spotify who has featured him on popular editorial playlists such as “The Most Beautiful Songs in the World” and “Lost in the Woods” to over two million subscribers skyrocketing his EP to over 900,000 streams. Riun has also been a back to back winner of the Canadian Songwriter Challenge hosted by Music BC and Creative BC two years in a row, and has since performed at The Vancouver Film Festival and at Canadian Music Week in Toronto to rave reviews from industry professionals.
