600 Hamilton Street, Vancouver BC V6B 2P1

For the Friday show, please use this link: https://www.vtixonline.com/rise/3305/

After eons of silence, the way to the Other World has opened! Take the leap and venture into dangerous realms of magic and mischief, faeries and spirits. And giant robots, of course.

Step into a dark, fantastical world where your thoughts and feelings become reality, where your inner self and outer life struggle for dominance. In such a place, will you become a product of your obstacles? Will you hide away in your wildest fantasies? Or will you evolve, and rise to the challenge of a new world before you?

Join the eatART Foundation for RISE, a theatrical extravaganza unlike anything we have ever done before! eatART has spent the past 15 years supporting the creation of large-scale mechanical artworks and producing art exhibitions in Vancouver, with a focus on sustainable energy. This debut event, at the historic Vancouver Playhouse Theatre, combines mechanical artwork with dance, music, and circus to bring you an experience to transform your reality.

This show is a fundraiser. Proceeds go towards the performers and supporting the eatART Foundation (www.eatart.org). The show contains adult themes and language; parental guidance is advised.

••• ABOUT eatART •••
The eatART Foundation is an educational charity and non-profit whose mission is to create Energy Awareness Through art - which is where eatART gets its name. The organization provides studio space in east Vancouver, free access to tools, and education for up-and-coming artists and engineers
that dream of building large art. One of the projects supported by the group is Mondo Spider – a 1500-pound, mechanical spider that is battery powered and invites people to consider alternative energy sources. This giant mechanical beast has traveled the world, and is regularly exhibited internationally with the aim of inspiring awe and wonder. Mondo Spider will be featured in the live staging of RISE.

RISE is also a fundraiser to help maintain eatART’s presence as an educational art space in Vancouver. The organization has faced numerous financial challenges, being located in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Since Melody took over as Executive Director of eatART in 2020, they have shepherded the organization through the global pandemic, and started several initiatives to welcome new volunteers into the organization. RISE’s multidisciplinary lineup reflects their desire to expand eatART’s growing circle of artists and audiences.

“This is an opportunity for people who are interested in art and science to see the amazing projects and talent in our community, while also helping us support new, cutting edge projects for years to come.” - Melody Copeman, Executive Producer

The eatART Foundation gratefully acknowledges the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Civic Theatres for this grant, which made this production of RISE possible. This show is a fundraiser. Proceeds go towards the performers and supporting the eatART Foundation www.eatart.org  To those who are able, eatART donations can be sent to: canadahelps.org/en/charities/eatart-foundation

••• LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT •••
This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil Waututh) Nations. As settlers living, creating, and organizing events on these lands, we believe it’s important to acknowledge that indigenous people have been the caretakers of this land since time immemorial. We benefit from their past and present protection of these lands. We also have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically. Settler colonialism has brought and continues to bring untold violence to these lands and people. With reconciliation in mind, we will donate a portion of proceeds from this event to RAVEN Trust

••• ACCESSIBILITY •••
This event is wheelchair accessible, please reach out to us about wheelchair tickets . Light sensitivity note: some scenes in the show have flashing lights. For more information about accessibility, check out the venues website.
