The Girl Next Door - Relaxed Performance

Sunday, May 15, 2022 | 2:00pm
The Red Gate Revue Stage

Painted Fern Production's "The Girl Next Door", is an original queer Canadian pop/rock musical all about Violet and her boyfriend Greyson as they move into their first apartment together. Though this seemed like a dream come true for the happy couple, a nightmare sets in when Violet discovers her ex-girlfriend Jade lives in the suite next door! Directed by the show's writer Sara Mayfield, it also features a rockin' four-piece band led by the show's musical director, Sean Baytun, and music superviser Ava Maria Safai, who composed and co-wrote the music with Sara. This Canada Arts Council funded musical is sure to wow audiences who loved blockbuster musicals such as Dear Evan Hansen, Rock Of Ages, and Rent.

Painted Fern's third production "The Girl Next Door" follows their two highly successful Cabarets produced in 2021. Inspired by the lack of pan/bisexual representation in media, "The Girl Next Door" is a musical created to feature and explore queer characters often absent from mainstream media. This show amplifies queer voices and talent and while remaining accessible to those unfamiliar with these communities.

*This show will be a relaxed performance. Some technical changes will be made to the performance – this can include quieter music, reducing loud or surprising sound effects and avoiding strobe lighting. More specific details to come!

In accordance with the latest BC government guidelines on indoor events, masks will not be required for the run of "The Girl Next Door". Although the mask mandate has been eased, Painted Fern Productions encourages guests to continue to wear masks for the benefit of all.
