The VICO Summer Academy is back this year, and we can’t wait to show you what comes out of this one-of-a-kind creative intensive! Participating composers spend two weeks learning and developing new work, in collaboration with a distinguished faculty of VICO composer mentors, roster musicians, and international guests.
June 6, the first of two Academy Showcase concerts, will feature the world premieres of brand new compositions for an intercultural chamber trio, performed by Lan Tung (erhu), Dai-Lin Hsieh (zheng), and Jonathan Bernard (percussion). Also on the bill: featured international guest Erica Roozendaal (accordion), who will perform Peigner Le Vif by Gerard Pesson (with Sarah Kwok – viola).
This concert is part of the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra's Spring Concert Series. Other events are happening May 30 at St. Andrew's United Church (North Vancouver), June 5 at Notional Space (East Vancouver), and June 7 at the ANNEX (downtown Vancouver).
